Douglas J. Hedley

Portfolio Manager

About Doug

Doug has 34 years of experience in the financial industry, working through multiple market environments. He brings an invaluable perspective on how to successfully construct and manage portfolios.

He is a firm believer that an investment management process must be disciplined and repeatable. He established these characteristics as two of the firm’s key philosophical principles.

Doug is a critical thinker whose passion is researching and analyzing data to spot opportunities that others would often overlook. Over the course of his career, he has built proprietary technical models for trading equity index futures, energy, and currency markets. These combined skills have led to his success as an asset allocator and give him the ability to manage investment portfolios without subjectivity or emotion.

Prior to Paritas, Doug was responsible for client portfolios totaling more than $1.3 billion in assets for a boutique wealth management firm, Fieldpoint Private. Earlier in his career, Doug worked for leading wealth advisory firms such as E.F. Hutton, UBS, Smith Barney, and Citigroup.

Doug is a 1983 graduate of Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He lives in New Canaan, Connecticut with his wife and two sons.

In addition, Mike brings in-depth knowledge and expertise in portfolio analytics, performance reporting, investment operations, and systems integration, which helps to maximize the productivity of the team, and ultimately deliver an exceptional client experience.

Prior to Paritas, Mike was the Head of Analytics and Tools at Park Avenue Securities where he worked in partnership with the firm’s business development team and more than 2,800 Financial Advisors to identify investment opportunities that would benefit their client’s portfolios. Earlier in his career, Mike worked at Fieldpoint Private where he contributed to the development of a portfolio management and financial planning application platform.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Finance and Accounting from Bentley University. Additionally, he attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a computer science major which has given him a strong skill set in various financial programming areas. Quantify The Risk

We calculate the risk of each individual asset in our portfolio to ensure we know exactly how it is behaving.

We analyze prices to determine movements and calculate statistics, such as correlation and volatility, that help us construct our risk value.

If risk is unknown, it cannot be managed. We are able to effectively manage risk by being able to quantify it.

Optimize the Risk

We use the power of today's computers to calculate the optimal amount of capital needed to achieve a specific risk target for each asset.

The optimizer evaluates each asset in the portfolio and determines whether or not it is contributing the right amount of risk to the overall portfolio.

Allocate the Capital

We invest the assets in the portfolio according to the capital amounts calculated during our optimization.
